I have been offering one to one services at RunTeach since its inception in 2018, and for a number of years before that under my own name. The nature of those services has changed over the years, but one thing remains completely unchanged: my passion for helping you to solve your pain or performance problem.
Just before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I started to specialise in applied neurology as it opens up an almost limitless number of options to help people get out of pain and get them active again. It has taken hundreds of hours of studying, applying, experimenting and refining. It has also taken tens of thousands of pounds of investment in education, materials and tools to reach a point where I can confidently offer a premium one to one service that produces outstanding results.
The one to one service I offer is fully personalised to you. I spend considerable time outside of our sessions to research, experiment and design the protocols that we can then try. The aim of each session is that you leave in a more positive state than when you arrived, whether that’s physically, mentally, emotionally, or any combination of these.
Ultimately though, you just want to know if I can help you when no one else seems to have been able to – correct?
The answer is “Yes, more than likely”. My success rate is around 97% but not 100% as the occasional person hasn’t liked my approach and that’s perfectly fine as it just isn’t for everyone.
However, I must stress that I am not medically trained and cannot provide you with a medical diagnosis. For that, I recommend you seek help from a medical professional and then come back and see me – if it’s still right for you of course.
What Is The One To One Service?
I help active people of all abilities to get out pain and improve their performance. My mission is to solve the problems that others can’t or won’t solve.
I work mainly with runners, but not exclusively and I have clients from lots of different sports and activities. Most of the time, people come to see me when they’ve already seen everyone else and haven’t been able to get the relief or improvements they want. While this isn’t a necessity, if you are at all worried about a structural injury or feel there may be an underlying medical reason for your pain, I recommend you see a medical professional first to be medically assessed.
The work we do together in our sessions is not designed to replace what you may currently be doing with a physio or other therapist, although it could well reduce the time you spend with them. My aim is to compliment what you are already doing and to help speed up your recovery and/or accelerate your improvement gains.
Sessions are individually designed following an initial assessment, and are refined continually as your nervous system and brain rewire and adapt. This means it’s difficult to pin down a set number of sessions. Rather, your nervous system will dictate this as it changes. Because my aim is for you to improve with every session, you’ll never be “sold sessions you don’t need”.
What Is The Process?
- We always start with an assessment that is personalised to you. The assessment usually takes two hours and involves a number of non-invasive tests, most involving movement of some kind. Examples are eye movement drills; error correction tests; sensory accuracy testing. You will also be asked to walk and to run (if running is appropriate for you), and you’ll be filmed from a number of different angles. The specific tests and drills will be based on your personal goals and may change throughout the assessment. It truly is a dynamic process and not just a set format.
- During the assessment, we will review your videos if needed, and discuss the best way forward. At this stage, you may decide to book your first session or you may decide to wait – the choice is always yours.
- Within a week of the assessment you will receive a follow up email with an overview of what we discovered at your assessment, and an outline of the plan to work from. It must be noted though, that the plan is a living document and will change depending on how your nervous system responds to the exercises and drills in each session.
- Once you book your first session, we start working together. The session will be planned and we look forward to seeing you. My aim is to help you reach your initial goal as quickly as possible, and my aim for every session is for you to leave feeling better than when you arrived. In many cases, once my clients reach their initial goal they decide they want to keep going. They start to understand the power of my approach and don’t want to go back to the old way of doing things.
