What our lovely runners are saying…
“Attended the Resilient Runners Workshop today really wish this had been available when I started running more frequently. So many useful things learnt which I hope to build upon in my running.”
“Nice relaxed atmosphere. Some great practical tips can put into immediate practice”
“Loved this workshop…”
“I have been really motivated by your workshop and have already written out my first 8 week plan and have chosen to concentrate on 3 areas of technique in my running. I have a race in the plan, and tempo parkruns in the build-up, rather than going flat out at everything! Thanks again for a great day and for reinvigorating my enthusiasm.”

- Understanding your training load and how it impacts you
- Running more efficiently, using up to 30% less energy!
- Running technique and how to prepare for changing how you run
- Key elements of strength training for running
Led by UK Athletics Coach Chris O’Brien, you will leave with the knowledge, skills and techniques to take your running to the next level.
Frequently asked questions are here.
Our upcoming 1 day workshop, The Resilient Runner, has been written to help runners of any ability to overcome some of the main questions we get asked:
- Why do we get injured?
- How do I reduce the risk of injury?
- How can I run more efficiently?
- How can I run faster and get that PB?!
If you have ever asked any of these questions, The Resilient Runner Workshop is for you!
Through group discussion, practical exercises and expert experience, we will help you discover the answers to all these questions. You will learn the techniques used by elite athletes and coaches to progress your running to the next level.
You will also receive 3 different warm up routines to take away and use immediately.
More from our fabulous attendees…
“Thanks Chris a really informative, practical and useful day. I applied a few tweaks to my half marathon today (posture etc) and it immediately helped me feel more positive about a race I was dreading to the point I really enjoyed the race. I can see how small adjustments will really help my form. Great advice. I will be back for more.”
“Really great and informative day, thanks so much. I think we all took away a few ‘improvement’ skills for our running which will be massively helpful!”
“Just a few changes made such a difference to my run yesterday also, it was a very undulating course and I kept reminding myself of your advice and wise words. It felt a completely different run! I can only see an improvement going forward. Thank you.”
“A brilliant day, thanks Chris! So much useful information! You clearly know your ‘craft’ inside out! Nice to know that little adjustments can help massively with improving your running style. Thanks again!”
This is your chance to beat your PB, and to reduce your risk of annoying and painful injuries.

Saturday 16th November 2019
11am to 5pm
The resilient Runner workshop is for runners of almost all abilities. Whether you have recently graduated from a Couch to 5k course or have been running for many years, the workshop has been designed to give you the tools to reduce your risk of injury, increase your speed and enjoy running the way you want to.
The aim of the workshop is to help you change how you think about running by providing an environment where you can use group discussion and physical practice. The format overview is:
- Introduction
- Running injuries
- Why we get injured
- How we can reduce the risk and build resilience
- Designing a warm up
- Lunch
- Running technique and form
- Small changes = large improvements
- Where to start and what to start with
- Becoming a smarter runner
- Essentials of session planning
- Preparing our body for technique change
- Moving better
- Summary and finish
There will be two or three short breaks throughout the day as well as lunch.
We encourage you to work in groups and have lots of fun!
We will be doing exercises and demonstrations inside the venue.
We will be going outside for two 15 to 20 minute sessions where we will be looking at and performing warm ups and technique change (gait training).
There are two outside segments, each is around 20 minutes and they do involve some running. However…
We set up a small square course on a playing field that is only 50 metres on each side, so you will definitely not get left behind.
Most of the running is done as part of learning about the warm up, the drills and technique. All running only lasts for a few minutes at a time, but has been designed to teach you best practice and get you thinking about how you run and how you can improve your running.
The next workshop is on Saturday 16th November 2019.
The workshop starts at 11:00 and finished at 17:00.
The venue is the Bourne Academy, Hadow Road, Bournemouth. BH10 5HS.
This venue is great because we have both an inside classroom space and a playing field that we can use for the outdoor segments.
There is also plenty of free parking.
The workshop starts at 11:00 and finished at 17:00.
Because we wanted to provide you with both a theory and practical element throught the workshop, reducing the time of the workshop would also reduce its quality and usefullness.
From what our previous attendees have told us, the day flies by and you leave the workshop with a much more complete picture of how to improve your running than if we crammed everything into just 2 or 3 hours.
Your long-term running health is more important to us than showing you some quick “tips & tricks” that will quite frankly lead you to frustration and potential injury.
